Our Story

We stopped organizing data and started generating it.

We started out building software that organized data that already existed. It helped solar teams sort and prioritize. It was useful.

But it wasn't the real problem.

The real problem we found was this: most of the data that matters in solar doesn't exist yet. It's not a sorting problem — it's a missing-data problem. You can't organize what hasn't been measured.

We hit this personally on a previous venture, where we needed real site data on commercial properties and it simply wasn't there. Not in any database. Not from any satellite. Not anywhere.

The Spark

"I don't trust the estimates."

We started asking commercial installers and EPCs why projects stalled at the proposal stage. The same answer kept coming up — the estimates weren't trusted.

Not because the models were bad. But because they were models — built on assumptions, not measurements taken on the actual roof.

That's when it clicked. We weren't going to solve trust by organizing data better. We had to generate the data — build the actual instruments that measure real, ground-truth conditions on-site.

The Shift

From organizing data to generating it.

So we shifted. We put down the spreadsheets and picked up the soldering iron. We started building hardware — weatherproof sensor nodes that deploy across roofs in a mesh network, measuring what actually matters: irradiance, shading, temperature, humidity.

Not estimates. Not models. Not satellite projections. Measurements.

That's what SolarScope Diagnostics is. Not a smarter dashboard — a hardware company for generating the data that was never there.

Based in Amherst, NY, we're a hands-on team that lived this problem before we set out to solve it. We're not here to sell you a smarter dashboard — we're here to put real instruments on real roofs and change what trust means in solar.

The Hardware

Meet the SolarScope Mesh

Every node is a full SolarScope unit — irradiance sensor, fisheye camera, temperature and humidity probes, local storage, and mesh radio. Deploy multiple nodes across a roof and they form a self-checking network that captures the conditions estimates can only guess at.

Each node measures actual sunlight hitting the panel's orientation — not a satellite estimate.

Fisheye Shade Mapping

On-board fisheye camera maps exactly when and where shadows fall across the roof throughout the day and year.

Temperature

Tracks ambient and back-of-cell thermal conditions that affect panel efficiency and lifespan.

Humidity

Monitors moisture levels that impact long-term system performance.

Local Mesh Communication

Nodes talk to each other on-site via a local mesh network — no internet required to aggregate data.

Local Data Storage

Every reading is stored locally — data survives any connectivity loss, nothing is lost.

Mains-Powered

Plugs into a standard outdoor outlet. No batteries to replace, no downtime.

Cloud Connectivity

Real-time data streaming available as an upgrade option when you need it.

SolarScope isn't a single sensor — it's a mesh network of full sensor nodes deployed across a roof. Nodes communicate with each other on-site, measuring irradiance, shading, temperature, and humidity.

Whole-Roof Accuracy

Every section of the roof gets measured, not estimated from one point. Large or irregular commercial roofs have varying conditions across their surface that a single sensor can't capture.

Survey Speed

The mesh aggregates data on-site automatically. No manual collection, no waiting — the install survey moves fast.

Built-In Data Quality Assurance

Nodes cross-reference and average readings against each other, automatically flagging and correcting any single sensor giving a bad or anomalous reading. A single sensor can't self-check; a network does.

Shade Mapping + Yield Zone Analysis

Using the fisheye camera and irradiance differentials between nodes, SolarScope pinpoints exactly where shading occurs and generates a yield analysis identifying high-yield vs low-yield zones. We don't estimate shading loss — we map it.
